Who We Are

Jordan River Farm has been farmed since at least 1905 and has been chemical free since 1971. We were the first farm in the state to be officially certified organic in 1988, and are in permanent scenic easement.  We are now a vacation rental and wildlife preserve.

We are also looking for a young couple interested in starting the market garden business back up. Call Cory at 540 636-4775 for details.

We offer an ideal site for many seminars and educational activities.  Over the years, we have had many public, private, parochial and homeschooling groups here of all ages, from toddlers to teens, and have even had student
groups from Japan.

We are also in the alternative energy business and install photovoltaic (solar electric) systems.

We will gladly send you an email article from the local newspaper written by Cory entitled, "Seven Steps to Leaving the Grid" to help you get started.  Free estimates.  Contact Cory at 540 636-4775 or cory@jordanriverfarm.com .

Special Projects - Schools: We need an inventory of the flora and fauna on the farm as well as a history of the farm prior to 1905, and are willing to offer free visits to the farm in exchange.  If your students need a practical activity for botany studies, or would like to research the county records, this is it.  See Cory for details.

OUR OFF – GRID

House Tours and Seminars
Jordan River Farm

Our off-grid cottage has been up and running since November of 2006 and lived in full time since April of 2007.  If you or your group are interested in learning about alternative energy, schedule a tour or workshop.  Can I go off the grid?  How much does it cost?  What system should I use and who can install it?  These are some of the questions that are answered.  Tour and workshop fees will depend on the number of people and scope of the material covered.  Call for a quote.
